The signal is interpreted by the infrared LED beam shielding. When approaching the active area without touching the surface of the display, the touch position can still be detected by calculation.

Operating Principle & Structure

 Infrared LEDs is the main role of how IR touch overlay works. The infrared LED arrays are arranged on the edges of two adjacent borders of the PCB, and the photoelectric sensors are located on the two opposite edges, serving as transmitters and receivers. The LED transmits infrared rays to form a beam of light on the entire display. When users send a signal by touch, they can interrupt the light beam with a physical object. Since each infrared LED is independent, the touch overlay can detect the position by analyzing the light reduction. The signal is then processed by the circuit and sent to the PC, and the coordinates that be touched by object will be displayed on the screen or other software that for operating the related signal.
